Excerpt from my NaNovel [Nov. 3rd, 2005|12:21 am]
[Current Mood | happy]
[Current Music |"Memory" - Sugarcult]

Keha was a hot, spicy beverage usually served with cream because of its acidity and fiery flavor. It was made by boiling the grated root of a keha plant, which grew wild in the southern regions of Sedera. It was also a natural source of caffeine, and was thus considered a necessity for any long-term mission. Everyone on board thought that the others would forget to bring any, so they all brought some, and they now had a near-endless supply of it. This had already led to Matt, Rio, and Skye staying awake for thirty-eight consecutive hours on two separate occasions, which Reese and Cole responded to by instating a keha curfew of sundown.

.....

The gangplank went down and a soaked Skye and Arnauor came up it, laughing but shivering.
“Go change into some warm clothes. I’ll have the keha done by the time you get back here,” Leigh shouted at them.
“Did somebody say keha?” Matt shouted from back toward the common room.
     “KE-HAAAA!” Rio chanted.
“Rio, you are in for a world of hurt!” Reese yelled from further back. She hadn’t disappeared inside her cabin yet.
“Actually, I’d better lay off the keha tonight,” Rio muttered, barely audible to Leigh.

I'm what?? [Oct. 29th, 2005|11:45 pm]
[Current Mood | surprised]
[Current Music |"Karma Police" - Radiohead]

You Are 50% Boyish and 50% Girlish

You are pretty evenly split down the middle - a total eunuch.
Okay, kidding about the eunuch part. But you do get along with both sexes.
You reject traditional gender roles. However, you don't actively fight them.
You're just you. You don't try to be what people expect you to be.

Your Seduction Style: Au Natural

You rank up there with your seduction skills, though you might not know it.
That's because you're a natural at seduction. You don't realize your power!
The root of your natural seduction power: your innocence and optimism.

You're the type of person who happily plays around and creates a unique little world.
Little do you know that your personal paradise is so appealing that it sucks people in.
You find joy in everything - so is it any surprise that people find joy in you?

You bring back the inner child in everyone you meet with your sincere and spontaneous ways.
Your childlike (but not childish) behavior also inspires others to care for you.
As a result, those who you befriend and date tend to be incredibly loyal to you.

Interests [Sep. 13th, 2005|02:08 pm]
[Current Mood | blank]

Look at your LJ "interests" list. If you have less than 50 interests, pick every fifth one. If you have between fifty and seventy-five interests, pick every seventh one. If you have over seventy-five interests, pick every tenth one. If you have fewer than ten, pick all of 'em. List them on your LJ, and tell everyone exactly what it is about these things that interests you so much.

(I have 19, so I picked every other one.)

bass guitars - bass guitars are the glue that holds most music together.
coffee - coffee is my life. or at least, the wakeful parts of it.
congas - they're so fun to play!
drums - also so fun to play!
guitars - the only instrument I really play that can stand on its own.
left-wing politics - because right-wing politics SUCK ASS!
movies - because, come on, you square.
politicking - I get quite intense when talking about politics.
web page design - the closest thing I have to a marketable skill.
writing - my prime means of communication... I'm not so good at talking.

Old Friends! [Sep. 13th, 2005|01:28 pm]
[Current Mood | chipper]

It's been too long since I updated this journal. Actually, I never update any of my journals these days (I have, like, four), so don't feel too bad. A little update on the bipolar thing, since that's the reason I started this journal...

I found a psychiatrist up here. The first thing he said is that I probably don't have ADHD--just improperly-treated Bipolar. That made me very happy, because I'd been fighting about treatment on that one for some time with my psychiatrist (and my mother). He got me off of the Seroquel and the Trileptal and put me on Zyprexa. Now, you have to understand, the Trileptal is the medication that gave me adverse reactions to sunlight. With this new medication, I can go out in the sun all I want (which still isn't a lot... but still!). This also made me very happy.

For a few months, I was extremely tired and couldn't figure it out. I finally took my dosage of Zyprexa down and I've been fine ever since. So things are good right now. We'll wait and see if things stay that way.

This has been bipolar update. Stay tuned for more bipolar news and random quizzes.

ADHD [Apr. 18th, 2005|04:12 pm]
[Current Mood | hyper]
[Current Music |"Not Fade Away" - Rolling Stones]

Okay... I ran out of my ADHD medication. As some of you may know, whenever this happens, I have a great ordeal actually going out and getting new ADHD medication. Here's a run-down on the last few days:

Friday: Realized I had just taken my last pill. Forgot to pick new medication up.

Saturday: Had no medication. Forgot to pick new medication up.

Sunday: Had no medication, and remembered this--but just didn't care enough to pick medication up.

Monday: Went to look for the old pill bottle and realized that I had accidentally thrown it away. After searching through my trash can for a few minutes, I realized that I had attempted to throw the bottle away, missed the trash can, and forgotten to put the bottle in the trash can later. I picked the old bottle up off of the floor, took it to Publix pharmacy and realized that I had no refills left. Must now remember where I put my new prescription. Remembered to get a haircut, though.

I leave Wednesday morning for Kansas City for a week, so I must get my pills tomorrow or I will not have them at all, which could make for an entertaining trip.

Janelle and I will be the cutest couple in Kansas City. We are already the cutest couple in the world, but we are not currently residing in the same city. Just so you know.

Hmmm... [Mar. 12th, 2005|10:53 pm]
[Current Mood | confused]
[Current Music |"Beautiful" - India Arie]

You scored as Islam. Your beliefs are most similar to those of Islam. Do more research on Islam and possibly consider taking the shahadah and officially becoming a Muslim, if you aren't already.

Despite the actions of some - who go against the teachings of Islam - Islam is a religion of peace; the word "islam" means "peace through submission to God." "Muslim" means "one who submits to God." Islam is the third of the three Abrahamic faiths, and it shares much with Judaism in Christianity; its differences are the acceptance of Muhammad as the last and final prophet, and the oneness of God - in other words, that Jesus, though he was a revered prophet, was not in fact God, and only one God exists. Apparently the Taliban could not read (though their name means "students"), because the Qur'an states that men and women are equal as believers, and that all believers should be educated and seek knowledge. Modesty in dress and behavior is required in Islam for both men and women to preserve the values of society and move the emphasis from superificial appearance to intelligence, knowledge, and God.
